Open Question: Can I put a mobile home bathtub in my house? Or recommendations for affordable 54 inch tubs?

I want to add a tub to my half bathroom in my house. I have limited space and looking for a 54 inch bathtub - preferably acrylic or fiberglass. The only affordable bathtub I found is an Enameled-Steel 54inch x 30inch bathtub by American Standard ($360 however not sure if I want this material). I found several 54inch x 27inch (even better size for my bathroom) bathtubs for mobile homes (made out of ABS, Permalux, or Fiberglass for $170-$300). Can I put a mobile home bathtub in my house? Are the materials they are made with cheaper than a bathtub for house? Would a mobile home bathtub still last a long time if used everyday in a house. If so, which material would be best and most durable. Are the drain sizes different?

Open Question: About how much does it cost to have a sofa reupholstered?

I am looking at antique Duncan Phyfe sofas on Craigslist. I found one for $300 with just okay fabric and one for $75 with wild fabric. If I buy the one for $75, how much would it cost me to get it reupholstered? Just a ball park figure would be fine. Also, how do I select an upholstery shop? There are many shops listed for my area and I don't know much about what to look for. I live near Baltimore, Maryland. Can you recommend an upholstery shop in my area?

Open Question: Interior design - can I use light wood and dark wood together?

I live in a fairly new flat. Most of the furnishings are light wood (light beech) including all doors, kitchen cabinets, hallway flooring. I've recently bought dark wood (chocolate) blinds for the living room and tv cabinet. Can I mix the two colours in the living room? I don't want to overwhelm the living room with too many dark furniture pieces and I also want to try and tie it into the rest of the flat. Is light wood mixed with dark wood a big no, no - or can I pull this off somehow? I was thinking of perhaps getting a beech coloured coffee table and a few beech shelves? Advice appreciated!!

Open Question: Area Rug/Carpet Question?

I am repainting and decorating my spare bedroom and have a question regarding carpet and area rugs. The room has honey stained pine hardwood floors which I want to keep. I dont really want to have carpet installed in the room, so here is what i'm thinking. How do you think it would look if I bout a piece of carpet alittle smaller than the size of the room and put that down? Like 3-5 inches of hardwood still exposed around the edges of the room. Would this look weird? I want just a plain colored light tan carpet with a thick nap or shag like. Any body have this or seen it done? Also should I do something to the edge of the carpet to keep it from unraveling? Thanks for any help
