Do I need to paint a base coat before painting any of the rooms?We've been in our house almost 2 years now and haven't painted a wall!! I'm ready to break out of our shell and paint a little. I was thinking os sponge painting our kitchen or spare bedroom to start out with. All the walls are white and our baseboards are all wood (and I'm not painting them-keeping them their natural wood). I was thinking of doing a yellow sponge paint in our kitchen over the current white walls. I just wanted to make sure I didn't need to paint them with base paint first. Any other ideas are welcome...I'm just looking for some inexpensive ways to brighten up my house & have some fun doing it. It is a newer house-built about 5 years ago. Open Question: Where can I find Laminate Hardwood flooring for under $0.50 per SQ FT?I am looking at getting a very inexpensive laminate hardwood flooring for my main floor, approximately 500-600 sq ft. I know I wont be living here for more then 5 years so I dont have a need for a 30 year warranty product just something that is very inexpensive and looks better then badly stained carpet we currently have. I have looked at lumber liquidators, they have hardwood for $0.69 per sq ft that isnt bad, I heard from a friend that sams club has some for around $0.20 per sq ft? Anyone ever buy from them? She's sixteen and has lived in her old house since she was teen, and hasn't redecorated her room since then. So she's asked me to come and help her decorate it (im very interested in interior design). Noramlly, I wouldn't have a problem with it, but now its just that...well. Shes literally obsessed with pirates. Not just the movies but the actual pirate concept. She loves the sea blue colors, black, and red too. she wants a pirati room theme. I don't know how to do that without making it little kiddish. She's sixteen. Any ideas?? I have previous experience, I just have been trying to find a design that I like, but none of the sites I have looked at have provided me with one I want.
