Open Question: Interior designing ideas for bedroom?I'm painting my bedroom dark purple, sort of like this color: http://media.photobucket.com/image/dark%20purple/alyad/DarkPurple.gif What could I add to the room to make it sort of calming and such? We are buying a new house and I just cant come up with the right color combo- im constantly rethinking things. here is my latest idea- can you imagine it? what do you think? any other suggestions? thanks! the house is bi-level. top floor roughly 1000 sq ft. you go up the stairs right as you walk in. to the left is the living room with a guard rail, a small bay window on the south wall, an old fashioned brick fireplace against the east wall. to the west are another set of stairs goin down, and up the stairs is a rail, then wall. to the north is connected dining room with sliding glass doors to the deck. to the west of the dining room is the kitchen with a breakfast bar. adjacent to the living room is the hallway which leads to 3 bedrooms and a bath. ok so now that you have an idea of the layout this is what i was thinking.... the wall which the red fireplace is on (which also is part of the dining room's wall) i would paint a deep, warm almond color to help contrast with the fireplace. the wall of the bay window (which is also the wall the entryway door sits) i would paint a cherry-brown color. this color would wrap around to the door, then around to the west walls up to the hallway. the hallway would be the same almond color. as well as the wall the sliding doors are on and the kitchen. dining room/kitchen flooring would be a medium earthy brown stone like vinyl tile. cabinets and breakfast bar stand would be a rich cherry expresso color. countertops black granite laminate same for breakfast bar. appliances are white, but eventually upgraded to stainless steel. drapes on bay window light tan. drapes on patio doors maybe chocolate brown.... railings black... flooring a dark rich brown wood..... baseboards along the floor white as well as bay window trimming and fireplace mantle. ceilings off white.
