Open Question: How to make hardwood floors less squeaky! PLEASE HELP!!?My house was build in the 70's. I've been told that the type of nail they used is causing my hardwood floors to squeak. There are in really good condition, and have been refinished. It wasn't much of an issue until I had a baby!!! She is now one, and EVERY time she gets to sleep...as soon as I take a step...she hears the squeak and is up crying. This is a nightly task. I often find myself trying to crawl on the floor to make it less squeaky! Do you know of ANY POSSIBLE way to minimize the noise?? Any "tricks"? -I cannot afford to replace the hardwood, so please don't recommend that Open Question: What catalog is good for bed sets and etc?I was wondering which catalog do you think is the best for items like bed sets, towels etc. I know there's 'collections' and 'wake up frankie', but I need more of a variety in the 'collections' catalog and less expensive products in the 'wake up frankie' catalog. I need something in between those two catalogs. Any ideas? Open Question: where can I get glass cylinders for a wedding centerpiece - best price? I want to repaint it, but I don't want a long, involved process for doing so - I have classes to worry about (so no, I'm not going to sand the sucker down first)! It's a light coffee brown color now, not glossy/finished/varnished, and I want to paint it black like all my other furniture. What's the bare minimum I should know so that I don't ruin it? I don't know anything about types of paints or primers, so I defer to the experts here, but keep in mind that this thing will probably end up in the dumpster when I'm done, or be free to another broke college student, so it doesn't need to be perfect! (Cheap is also good) Thanks for any advice! I just picked up a free old wooden dresser to use for college, but the color is atrocious. That must mean it's latex paint. Open Question: what method should i use to remove granite from a floor without damaging the granite?it is slab pieces not til?Open Question: Is this too matchy-matchy? Or is it just my friends?I recently had my daughter Shiloh, and I had planned her room out as soon as I got pregnant, because my husband and I had been building our new house, and we had free creative reign. Her walls are a light pink, all her furniture is dark stained wood, and there is a dark hard wood floor with these carpets: http://www.anthropologie.com/anthro/catalog/productdetail.jsp?subCategoryId=HOME-RUGS-RECTANGULAR&id=980014&catId=HOME-RUGS&pushId=HOME-RUGS&popId=HOME&sortProperties=&navCount=70&navAction=top&fromCategoryPage=true&selectedProductSize=&selectedProductSize1=&color=grn&colorName=GREEN&isSubcategory=true&isProduct=true&isBigImage=&templateType= http://www.anthropologie.com/anthro/catalog/productdetail.jsp?subCategoryId=HOME-RUGS-ROUND&id=880024&catId=HOME-RUGS&pushId=HOME-RUGS&popId=HOME&sortProperties=&navCount=70&navAction=top&fromCategoryPage=true&selectedProductSize=&selectedProductSize1=&color=mul&colorName=MULTI&isSubcategory=true&isProduct=true&isBigImage=&templateType= Recently, I invited some of my friends over to see the completed house and my daughter, and one of my friends was telling me how Shiloh's room looked like it was from a how-to-make-a-room-match website... Does it seem like her room is too matchy-matchy-- or is my friend just being strange? More Recent Articles
