Open Question: What's a reasonable re-sale ROI from having taseful built-in cabinets & bookcases installed in a living room?We live in a rapidly-growing suburb of Indianapolis, IN. Our home was built in 1994 & has been well-maintainned. Homes near us in our neighborhood carry Zestimates (www.zillow.com) in the mid-200s. Our home is the second-highest valued home in a 10 house perimeter on our street. Our home has a main floor family room, a main floor living room, and a finished-basement rec. room. We're wanting to convert the living room into a home office/living room, with a loveseat, an overstuffed chair, an ottoman &/or an accent trunk, and cabinets/bookcases with a wall desk. Our budget is $9K-$9.5K for the cabinets/bookcases (to include a curio cabinet) and wall desk; our options for that purchase are custom-ordered modular furniture versus custom-made built-ins. We love the look and trust the sturdiness of both designs, even though the built-ins would be consturcted of fake wood while the modular units would be made of real wood. We may move out of state in 1.5 - 5 years. Granted, if & when we move, the modular furniture would GET to come with us (a.k.a. no lost investment)--but on the other hand, the modular furniture would HAVE to come with us (a.k.a. hastle, moving expense, risk of furniture damage). We would appreciate comments from any real estate professionals on our dilemma: how much of our outlay should we expect to be able to recover at re-sale if we have built-ins constructed & installed? Open Question: Where could I get White Blue bulbs for my 2006 Laredo?I want lights that are white blue, but i cant get the 6000k because it will kill my battery. Does anyone know of a site i could find these bulbs at? I tried autozone, amazon and etc. Open Question: Will my doors and windows warp due to the wood getting wet before they could be painted? My builder fitted Sapele doors and windows that had not been primed (i.e. bare wood). The wood got soaked. Will the doors warp? And will the wood be irreversibly damaged? Kind regards Open Question: What is the difference between Architectural Interior Design and Interior Design?Open Question: Do freestanding bathroom vanities look bad in corners? We're looking at getting something like this: http://www.faucetdirect.com/dreamline-dlvbj-011-antique-vanity-with-countertop/p146477 The bathroom is small, so while this is just about the same size as the currently installed cabinet/sink, it would have to butt up against the corner walls. I know these are finished all around and have pretty curves on the counter top. So, butting it against the wall will leave some gaps where the counter curves and touches the wall. Does this look bad, or is it actually something people do all the time? Open Question: Polyurethane peeling off coat! Hardwood finish?I've sanded the hardwood floors and applied the first coat. After few days the cleaning crew cleaned the floors using Fabuloso (Fabulous). I applied the second coat and the the polyurethane is now peeling off the from the first coat. Could be the cleaning the causing all of this? Is there any other report about this particular cleaner or similar cause this? Ps: I've being doing this type work for 5 years and it never happened to me. Open Question: I am new to sewing. Would it be ok to purchase a refurbished machine? This is the one I'm considering: http://www.overstock.com/Crafts-Sewing/Brother-XR9000-120-stitch-Function-Computerized-Sewing-Machine-w-Alphabet-Font/4363751/product.html Open Question: how much would an average apartment cost?if youre 19 years old and would like to live alone in a normal sized apartement, how much money would have to save up to live in this apartement? Open Question: What's the ballpark cost of a garage expansion?I have a two-car attached garage and want to expand it to a three-car. The expansion would go out into the side yard and there's nothing special about our garage now. I can't do any of the work myself. Anyone have a vague idea of what it would cost to have it built by contractor? More Recent Articles
