Open Question: who should pay the retaining wall for a new house, builder or new buyer?The builer and sale managers never mentioned the retaining wall. After the foundation is created, we found that from the foundation line/base to the fence line/base, total long is about 20 feet and sloped elevation is 3feet 2 inches. Would you please let us know who should pay this retaining wall? Open Question: Help - how do I tone down a tumbled travertine backsplash?We just installed a 4 x 4 mosaic tumbled travertine (cream & tan) back splash in our kitchen. We love it, but the contrast of the cream stone vs. tan stone is darker than we expected - - and it reminds me of a checker board pizza parlor. I would like to tone it down without tearing it out and starting all over. I've attempted to sponge-paint the darker tile to lighten it up a bit, but all of the samples look exactly like that....painted. I just want it to be clean, natural classic looking. Any ideas of another way or product I can use to create a more uniform look? Btw...it has already been grouted and sealed. Thanks for your help! Open Question: Window Valances and Fabric?I am planning on making window valances for my son's toyroom in our new house. Since I am not a sewer or know much about fabric, I thought this would give me a chance to save some money and make something for him : ) There are three windows : I want each of the valances to be 15 X 45. Therefore, I figure when I go and get material I will need a large piece that is 45 X 45 in order to do all of them. Do I just tell the person who is cutting I need 45 X 45 piece or is it done in yards?? Thanks so much! Open Question: i bought my town home 3 years ago (new). we are facing major problems like tilting & cracking.?my golf balls rolls to edge corners(from all floors). 3 doors won't completely close. can't close our main front door without heavy force. i see minor cracks from 2 room walls and ceiling. i hear pipe ticking sound from inside of wall when i use toilet. garage ceiling is cracked and water drips. dripped water don't flow and drain doesn't work at all. i tried with HOA but they don't have any solution. i want to move out (sell) without any trouble or fix these issue without spending my own money. this 18 units town house was built on 2005 or 2006 and i was the first buyer for my unit. is there any government service will handle issue? any advice will help. thanks in advance.
