Open Question: Work above my apartment, how will it affect me?I live in NYC in a 9th-story apartment building, in the 8th floor. Above me, in the 9th floor unit, contractors are about to renovate the entire unit, especially the bathroom. This was found to have a leaking window frame that, during recently strong rains, seeped water that damaged my own bathroom. Contractors installed a new ceiling in my own bathroom last week, apparently plywood-reinforced, in addition to the existing concrete ceiling to protect my bathroom during the renovations. They reassure me I will not be inconvenienced, besides noise and bumps. Questions are: is there any way in which the work above will affect me negatively (besides noise)? I am especifically worried about fumes, dust, or any particulates that could hinder my health. Can dust, etc., seep through the heater pipes (assuming these are not perfectly sealed between floors?)? Please answer the above question one-by-one, with special interest given to answers from people with actual experience or contractors. (Don't fake you know if you don't, please). Also, I didn't occupy my unit while the ceiling was installed, and after three days of running an internal fan and having windows open, the unit still smells slightly of plaster and semi-gloss paint. Is this a hazard? Or are slight smells ok? How will I know if I am being affected negatively? What are the symptoms? Thanks much. Open Question: What do you think I should do with my room?So I want to redo my room and I have picked out a bed set and a rug so far. The rug is choclate brown and is a 5x8 to cover up part of my hardwood floors. i'll put a link to the bedset below and tell me what you think and what you else you think I should get. Open Question: Be Honest do you like my idea for a bedroom??????Ok, I'm 12 almost 13. And my parents said I can re-do my room. I'm going to have light tan walls, the color of a spring fawn. I am getting a small plasma screen. Two or three bean bag chair, to sit in and relax. (Three because I have lots of friends over.) A largish dish chair. BTW- I have a huge room. I am sticking with my twin bed. My bed spread will be Navy Blue Doka-Dots. I'm buying lots of pillows, for comfort. BTW- I'm a girl. And I want to stick to Light Brown and Navy blue, due to that being the color of most my furniture. FYI I'm not into that whole Zebra Stripe thing. I don't want something origanal.
