Open Question: creative thinking...how to build a home?

i got evrything done but on this one i got stumped. so for a project we have to "build our own city" but it has to be somewhere in the world that already exists...im doing seattle washington. and i cant figure out how you would build a home there? like what would be used to build a home? how do homes use solar power, and power lines?

Open Question: where can i find a Vanity for my bedroom?

hey. i'm looking for a vanity to place in my bedroom that is around (maximum) $400. i already checked pbteen. also style-wise, i don't want it to be like old fashion and etc.. something more modern but not too modern but very chic. also one that's not too big.

Open Question: bedding/curtains for room with light blue walls and white furniture with brown chairs?

So I am in quite the dilemma. Recently my mother and I have decided that we want to makeover my bedroom. Without me knowing, she ordered me these chocolate brown chair thingers from pottery barn teen (http://www.pbteen.com/products/seat-to-sleep/?pkey=clounge-seating). I wouldn't have chosen these chairs on my own, but I have them now and must incorporate them into my makeover plans. The tricky thing is that I have light blue walls and all my furniture except for my new chairs (bed, dresser, desk, mirror) is white. They are also chunky, they kind of look like this:http://www.potterybarn.com/products/francisco-bed/?pkey=call-beds. My bedroom is currently very childish with colors like purple and green and pink and I want to update my room to fit my style. I want to get new bedding and new curtains, but I'm stuck! I want my room to be more grown up and modern, but still funky and original. Can anybody help?!

Open Question: What do you call the chairs at the ends of beds?

Those flat ones, almost like the ones at stores when you try on shoes. I can't think of what they're called and it would be really useful for what i'm writing right now.

Open Question: Installing hardwood laminate?

We're considering replacing our white tile in our kitchen, dining room and entry way with a hardwood laminate to match the rest of main level of the house. Here's my question: our kitchen floor is not level and because the previous owners did nothing to correct it, most of the tiles are cracking. To level out the floor for the hardwood laminate, will we need to take out the cabinets? Is this best left to a professional or is this something we can do ourselves? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Open Question: My unemployed brother has been sleeping on our new sofa for almost a year, the cushions need a serious refluff?

Not only that he has funked it up by not showering.. :( I tried to use Febreeze every time I get a chance but it seems to not work.. We want to revive it since he's finally moving out and no one will be sleeping on it anymore. Any suggestions other than taking outside to burn? It's new to us because we never had a chance to enjoy our own furniture.. That's what I mean..

Open Question: Recommendations for reducing the shine on a newly painted lamp?

A few days ago I spray painted a lamp base with a satin paint, but it came out much glossier than I prefer. Do you know of any way I can cut the shine down without damaging or removing some of the paint? I was thinking maybe steel wool or some chemical?
