Open Question: Decorating ideas for a loft conversion?

We've recently had a loft conversion and I need some decorating ideas. I was thinking light neutral colours for the walls and ceilings because it's not a huge space, can anyone suggest any shades? Also, not to clued up on the difference between vinyl matt/silk/soft sheen, acrylic eggshell and eggshell so if anyone can shine some light on that it'd be great too!
