Open Question: I feel that my new room will look awful? and more... Open Question: I feel that my new room will look awful?Ok, so my family is building a new house. It is near completetion, and we are buying lots of new things to make it look to our liking. The problem is that I have had the same bedroom furniture for my entire life, and I feel that it will look horrible in my room. When I was 2, I took a pen and scratched both of my dressers. Of course, I was unaware of what bad I was doing. Also, my desk is a completely different color from my bed, and my bed is a different color from my dressers. I recently purchased new bedding which I am very pleased with. The problem is that I really want to purchase new furniture, ideally. But, my family does not have the money to do this! I want to make my room a comfortable living space for me when I come home and relax. As it is, I am already asking for a new computer monitor and speakers as my birthday presents. I just feel that all of my old stuff does not represent me anymore. I have changed, and my surroundings are obviously going to change extensively. I do understand that there are those in this world who are without a room, without any dressers or beds to sleep on. However, I am not in their position and though I feel deeply for them, I cannot base my life around them. I feel that if I have the opportunity to live a grateful life with not only materials but inner joy and a functional family then I will take advantage of it. I just want my room to look the best it can be. I absolutely love my bathroom, but I obviously do not spend the bulk of my time in there. I really need a good answer to my question, which is; How can I (let's face it) convince my parents to allow me to purchase new furniture? OR How can I become content with the furniture that I have and make the most of it in a way that is satisfactory. I appreciate you taking the time to read this. Thank you. Open Question: want to change my room?my room has a very mature feel to it right now. how can I make it have more of a teen girl look for a cheap price? Open Question: What to use on the walls around the toilet?Ok guys this is hard to explain so I'll try my best. You know how if you flush the toilet with the lid open the water will sometimes mist(?) up onto the walls. Well the paint on the walls is starting to look more like sand paper because the acid in the urine (sorry kind of gross) is eating away at the paint. Aside from putting the lid down, and with 5 little kids using the bathroom it's next to impossible to do, what can we put on the walls to make them smooth and stay looking nice. We're redoing the whole bathroom and thought maybe tiling half way up the wall with white tiles that are easier to wipe clean. Any other suggestions? Maybe a paint that wipes clean easily? I know they make bathroom paint, maybe that will work. The area we would tile would be about five feet wide so tile wouldn't be that expensive. Ideas, opinions, suggestions? Thanks :) Open Question: Has anyone used benjamin moore autumn gold (2152-30) on the walls?I'm thinking of painting my bed room a gold color. Has anyone used benjamin moore autumn gold (2152-30)? Also, the bed room has cathedral ceilings. I'm thinking of painting the ceiling the same color as the walls. Is it going to be too overwhelming? Thanks in advance for your answers. Open Question: I am planning on painting one accent wall purple in my living room with white trim?Would this rug http://www.target.com/Floral-Area-Rug-Blue-x95/dp/B002DUSPK2/ref=sr_1_16?ie=UTF8&searchView=grid5&frombrowse=0&node=1038576&keywords=area%20rugs&field_browse=1038576&searchSize=30&id=Floral%20Area%20Rug%20Blue%20x95&field_availability=-2&refinementHistory=subjectbin%2Ctarget_com_age%2Ctarget_com_gender-bin%2Ctarget_com_character-bin%2Cprice%2Ctarget_com_primary_color-bin%2Ctarget_com_size-bin%2Ctarget_com_brand-bin&searchNodeID=1038576&field_launch-date=-1y&searchRank=target104545&searchPage=1&field_keywords=area%20rugs match at all? I am skeptical but hopeful. Also, what other colors would look nice with dark purple? Open Question: I need to clean and add "fluff" to my sofa cushions?I have only had this sofa for a little over 2 years, but it looks awful! I really need to clean it. Would it be best to rent a steam cleaner? Would that get it the cleanest? I have tried scrubbing with everything, but it made the couch look worse so I stopped. Also, where people sit in certain spots, the cushions are lopsided and very uncomfortable. I have tried fluffing them back up, but had no luck. Any advice? Anyone? Please?! : ) Open Question: help with an exotic themed bedroom?a little challenge for you. please help me as i have no idea! the walls are already orange - spicy warm red. it was supposed to be African themed, as i love Africa in general but i found it hard to look for things that suited the theme, so it's now 'exotic' :) include - bed covers - rugs/matts - curtains - decorations - everything basically. thanks! Open Question: Anyone have ideas for decorations for "slap your mama" chili entry for our chili cook off?Open Question: Will Zinsser Bullseye 1-2-3 totally cover the very dark paint on my walls?I'm painting a room in my house that has previously been painted very dark blue. I want a white primer that will cover over it in one (hopefully) or two coats. I want the walls to look white after I prime, before I put my colour on. I bought Zinsser Bullseye 1-2-3 but I'm second guessing if it's the right product for the job. I got the water based one... Open Question: How much does a professional cost and where would I find one?My husband and I are re-painting almost all of the rooms in our new house before we move in. We're having trouble deciding colors for the place. Where should we go to get a professional to come in and give us their suggestions? Also, any idea what price range we would be looking at just to have them come and help us?
