Open Question: I want to install a new fireplace but Gas pipe comes out from the floor?

We already have an old gas OUTSET fire which we want to replace with a new INSET one. The gas pipe currently comes out of the floor from the side of the hearth we have. The hearth and backpanel look tiled. Can I still install a inset fire? Can the pipe be rerouted without damaging or removing the hearth and backpanel or will we have to change them completely?

Dr Steven Chu, the Nobel Prize-winning US Secretary of Energy thinks you should. According to Dr. Chu we could have the equivalent effect of taking all cars in the world off the streets for 11 years.
