Open Question: converting a garage vs. digging out a crawl space?

So, I'm just wondering in other peoples opinions what the best option would be. We need more living space, and are trying to decide between digging out our 4 foot crawlspace, or converting our 2 car garage. Who has done each? And how much did the renovations cost? We're looking to gain a family room and office (MUST) and if doing the basement, would add a bedroom and bathroom. Just trying to gather other opinions!!! Thanks

hi we have old carpet on top of tiled floor in our dining room the carpet really needs replacing but I have no idea how to fix the grippers down onto the tiles any ideas how I can do this without pulling up the tiles?
