Open Question: decorating costs- how much.......?how much would I expect to pay someone to strip all walls of paper, paint all walls and ceilings in a small two bedroom bungalow with lounge and small hall, kitchen, bathroom and porch? Thanks Open Question: Can you have black AND brown in the same room?I want to buy all new furniture, some black and some white, but my current bedspread is pink and brown. I love the pink and brown, so I painted the wall with my window brown, and I have brown accessories and some wall art. Would keeping the brown wall and accessories look bad with my black furniture? (ps. I will add some more colors like purple, blue, and turquoise with my new bed. I want a new bedspread, but then I will have to take down the wall art.) HELP!! Open Question: Does anyone know the difference between using a square or round dinner plate?I'm trying to chose a pattern for my casual dinnerware and I don't know if I want square plates or round plates. Does anyone know if there is a problem using square plates? I've never used anything but round. Open Question: what do you recommend for an outer brick wall to be covered with when an attached house has been torn down?I prefer not to use dry-vit. I had the wall covered with concrete. It does not last. I cannot afford to have the entire wall rebricked. Any suggestions to keep the moisture out and beautify the appearance of my house. Open Question: Are we crazy to take on such a bit renovation project?We're looking to buy a property and have found one that needs completely gutted and renovated...it was an old persons house and not touched since the 50's so needs new plumbing, rewiring, new kitchen, boiler but it has so much potential - potentially large living/kitchen/dining room - 3 bedrooms inc attic conversion with space for a lovely master bedroom with en suite and it has a 69 foot private garden. Our house is currently on the market and the asking price for this place is £60,000 below our asking price. How much would it cost to renovate and are we mad to think about doing this? How long would it take to renovate? Open Question: What to put in a guest bedroom?Not really a 'guest' room but I don't know what else to call it. A girl from England is coming to stay with us for a few months and I'm not sure what to..furnish her room with. She has her own bedroom, bathroom and walk in closet. I have the basics - double bed, headboard, bookshelf, dresser/vanity, bedding and pillows. I also have an extra computer desk, entertainment unit, tv, couch and mini fridge around, the room is very large so don't worry about it being crowded - should I include these things? It can't hurt right? There's just some things I'm wondering about. Should I put stuff on the bookshelves? Some of my magazines, picture frames, candles? Should I put some pens and notebooks in the desk? A calendar? Clothes hangers? Should I put art up on the walls? Towels, bath mat, toothbrush holder, laundry hamper? I feel weird asking if she's bringing these things haha, I don't know her very well yet. I guess it should be like a hotel right? All the little things you should expect to be there.. If you could take a few moments to think about what you would want in a room you're renting, give me a little list of things I might not be thinking about. Also any other tips for making her feel more at home would be sooooo appreciated. Thanks so much everyone =) Open Question: How to decorate jacuzzi room in my home?My fiance and I just bought our first house together. We have a room in the house with a jacuzzi in it, it isnt like a jetted tub in a bathroom, just a room solely for the purpose of hot tubbing..The people that lived there before decorated it with some horrible jungle theme and even had weird fake leaves glued to the ceiling and jungle wall paper. I want to also have a theme when we get done taking off the wallpaper..but obviously we've never really sat down and said "hmm so when we have a hot tub room how shall we decorate it?" haha so I wondered if anyone had any kind of creative ideas that weren't quite as tacky as jungle. I was thinking like..relaxing spa with just neutral colors or something but then again it'd be cool to be a little more interesting than that as well.
