Open Question: Help! Wood Paneling Overload!?

I am looking at buying my first house. I found one in an ok area that is well within my budget and I am seriously considering that it might be the one! The only problem is that the previous owner was pretty into his handywork and wood paneling! I don't know what to do with it. Should i paint over all of it? It will literally be the ENTIRE house! I think that for the most part painting is a good option until i have money for further renos. But the room that concerns me the most is the kitchen since not only are all the walls wood but so are the cupboards and counter tops! I don't have the money to replace them. Any suggestions? Paint? Also what kinds of colors would look good in this space! I'll link to some photos... sorry for the low quality http://s280.photobucket.com/albums/kk195/dani_gosick/Man%20Den/ Thankx for taking the time.

Open Question: bathroom floor question?

I want to redo my bathroom floor. There is plywood under the linoleum which is soft and crappy. I want to know when i rip up the plywood to get to the floor joists what should I use. Is sub floor the same as backer board? I was planning on buying the cement board to put on the floor but do I need plywood under the cement board or can I just use the cement board? I will use tile on top of the whatever its called sub floor, backer board. Thanks for the help
