Open Question: what do i use to seal wooden light riser?i have a salt water tank with an oak riser under the light is there any type of sealer that will withstand the caustic properties of the salt,be clear in color and last a long time i thought of either an epoxy or maybe polyurethane but am not sure how they will effect my tank or if they can withstand the salt i used a natural red oak to build the riser (approx.36 inches long by 4 inches Square on the ends) i would like to show off the beauty of this piece it rests on top of the tank near the filter so will constantly be subjected to the salt water also because of natural evaporation it will constantly have salt deposits on it after drying i of course do not want any chemical reactions that might harm my fish Open Question: oak table cracking what oils.?what do i need to aply to the table to stop it cracking. it seems to be finnished in varnish.
