Open Question: Why would new plaster fall off an artexed ceiling?

We have just had a professional plasterer cover over an oldish artexed ceiling. We left it to dry for 4/5 days and then the painter put on a couple of coats of emulsion. The next morning the plaster had fallen off in large pieces. I know that the artex was coated with something before the plaster was put on. How difficult will it be to redo the ceiling?

Open Question: Ideas for the basement?

Okay.. soo I want to make a room in the basement. However, I don't have the materials or means to build dry wall and paneling. So.. I found this picture http://laist.com/attachments/la_zach/1-bedroom-good.jpg I want to make something like that in the basement to make a room down there. Kinda like a tent. Any ideas of how to do this. I knew I want to tack up fabric and get a track to curtain off the area. But any other good ideas of how to make a temporary room on a budget. I don't own my home so I can't put up walls or anything. So something that can be taken down.. Please help. It's crowded in my home and we're on a low budget. It's not a very big bedroom but there's a good corner space in the back about the size of a small bedroom.
