Open Question: Can anyone give me some idea to refinish my deck?

The floor of my deck is painted. Now the painted floor is peeling badly. I don't want to paint it over the the existing paint, but the local code does not allow me to sand the paint off. I wonder if I can just remove the paint with a chisel and then refinish with a wood finish.

Open Question: I am thinking about redecorating....how does this sound?

Okay, so I got rid of my old headboard and I am doing a neat thing with curtains and shelving and paint and up lighting for my new headboard....but here is my question. My headboard is kind of curved with legs which I plan to detach and once detached it has a flat bottom....so I guess the best way to describe this is the moon cut in half with the top curved and the bottom being flat...but it is slightly more ovalesque . My question is this, I plan on basically building a base and making it into a desk and using the headboard as the desktop. I think it makes it custom and I am re-purposing furniture, thus saving money and being more "green". The flat edge would sit flush with the wall with the curve coming out. It is a queen size headboard so that should give an idea of the size. What do you think?
