Open Question: What are the most helpful pieces of furniture/equipment/accessory did you get for your apartment/house?I got myself a new apartment. Fully furnished (as in i have a bed, table, computer, couple chairs and kitchen accessories don't need anything else). Im rarely home cuz of my job, job related travel and the gym. im curious if there is something really useful i should get. im thinking bowflex dumbells, adjustable gym bench and a sleepmate. dont need a tv Open Question: how much would it cost to replace a door frame and to hang a new door that ive already got thanks?Open Question: Is it a good idea to keep books in plastic storage boxes?Instead of having bookshelves, I was thinking of buying those clear plastic storage boxes and storing my books there. Honestly I don't have a lot of books, I have about 10 or so...I only keep books that I like, the rest I give away or throw away, plus I like the idea of keeping the books in storage boxes to keep dust from getting on them. Is that weird? I know most people keep their books on bookshelves, but I'd like to get storage boxes and then put them in my closet away from the sun. I painted it a year ago but did not do enough coats of primer and paint. It went from green to orange and we just didn't do enough coats of paint. in some areas it looks streaky. So now a year later, i am repainting over the shiny orange color that was put on in october 2008. I am scrubbing with hard surface cleaner. Do i still need to prime? The home depot guys said no, the THC or whatever it's called would take off the shiny coat so the new paint will stick. The local hardware store guys said i need to do both the hard surface cleaner AND a primer paint before putting on the new paint. I prefer not to cut corners BUT not to do extra work if not necessary! thank you! I will be face nailing. I'm reading I should add 1/2 inch CDX plywood, which I'm willing to do but are there any other options? other sizes of plywood? Also if I add the plywood underlayment, do I lay directly on top of the existing OSB plywood or stagger them for more stability? Once I do that, I want to add rosin felt paper or plastic sheeting between the OSB floor and plywood underlayment. Necessary or unnecessary? This is directly over a basement.
