Open Question: what colors to match chocolate brown walls? and more... Open Question: what colors to match chocolate brown walls? We are painting our bedroom walls dark chocolate brown. It is a big room with high ceilings and lots of light. Now I am wondering what colors to use for my curtains and duvet cover. I am going for a relaxing space so nothing screaming please. Open Question: Loud coworkers on both sides, how can I design my cubicle for the most quiet? My cubicle is in a windowless, 4-walled rectangle. If you picture a square & up is north, to my right is east, behind me is south & to my left is west...got it? My desk is in the northeast section of my cubicle, so I'm facing north. Next to my desk on the left side is a 5' tall cabinet I put there to try to divert some noise. Behind me is another 5' tall cabinet to try to divert some noise as well. On top of both cabinets I have fans to try and create some "white noise". Okay, loud co-worker #1 is on the other side of my north wall, her desk is in the southwest section of her cubicle, so she is shouting on her phone facing west. Loud co-worker #2's cubicle is behind me (south), his desk is in northeast section of his cubicle, so he is shouting on his phone facing north (at my back). My job doesn't allow me to wear headphones, and my desk has no cabinets above it. I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas as to how I can face the furniture and situate my desk in this situation to maximize any available peace & quiet. Open Question: Can you just rent (not to own) furniture from Rent a center?I am curious to know this for things like staging a house or if you are having a superbowl party and want a really big tv for just a short period of time. There is never any goal of owning it, just renting it and returning it when you are done. Would this affect your credit score? Has anyone ever done this? Also, would they come and pick it up when you are done Open Question: Help! Open Question: is there an inexpensive or free home design software out there for a normal homeowner?its just that I want to play around with some home design ideas with my house for a small addition, & I need some kind of basic program to use. Thanks! Open Question: Small Loft Conversion?Anyone whose got a small loft conversion. How is it? How do you use it? As a bedroom? As a storage room? Comments? Open Question: Any tips on mudding drywall? My husband and I are doing drywall in our kitchen. My uncle came in and did the first coat on all of our joints. He thinks we should be able to do the other coats ourselves, and then he will come in and do a final skim coat. He used paper tape on the joints. I know your supposed to try to apply it as thin as possible to reduce the sanding, but are there any other tips? Any video tutorials? I tried searching YouTube, but can't seem to find videos on the 2nd and 3rd coats. Some of the ones I found were ridiculous lol Even a website with pictures of the steps would be great. My uncle thinks we are capable of doing this, I'm just kind of worried since we've never done this before Thanks for your help! More Recent Articles
