I'm trying to get more guy time in with my son. I figured this would be a good project for both of us to do together. The shelf is currently black with some hints of a pastel purple( I know I know, why purple? I wondered the same thing when I got the shelf.) It also has a press board backing but the rest of it wood. I'm going to replace the press board with wood. I'd like to have this shelf to have that varnished/stained look instead of the color it is now. I know I'm going to have to sand it but what is the best way to remove the paint without taking the shelf apart? Or what is the best way to achieve the look I want?
