Open Question: How should I redecorate my loft?

I just moved into my new loft 2 days ago and my loft came all furnished (I'm renting it) but I'm thinking of redecorating it (Possibly replacing furniture) but I need help. I'm only 18 years old and my first year of university is coming up so I want a place that will make me feel at home since I'm new to New York (Im originally from Canada). Open Question: Would this be a good thing to put in your room?

I will be getting a new room soon and I have absolute freedom how I want to redo it. I'm 20. There is a rather narrow niche on one part of the room where used to be a huge wardrobe so the wall behind is not wallpapered as the rest of the room. I thought I could make a picture-wallpaper there (not sure how they are called). Also I have nowhere to put my mirror. So what if I got some tower or castle picture there and put the mirror on it in the place of a window? Of course, I'd have to do great deal of work on the picture so the perspective, sizing and positioning of the window would be correct, the overall image wouldn't be too childish but remain "warm", but I think I can do it. (Why a tower? What other vertical structure has windows? Or do you have a better idea? The space is approx. 4x9ft, the regular wallpaper is a soft peach color) What do you think? I think it would look very interesting, but I'm not sure it would be as nice as I think now. Oh, and the unwallpapered wall has the most terrible blue shade you can imagine...
