Open Question: Which is better Gel Staining or Oil staining wood?Im going to be staining my drum kit, but having trouble deciding on either using a oil based stain or a gel stain also should I use a conditioner first for example the Minwax Pre-Stain conditioner, to get a even finish/coating on it. It says I should use the conditioner if staining soft or porous woods, the wood im staining is birch, is it soft and or porous? Also what protective finish should I use. The reason i ask this also is because people are saying to use polyurethane, but Ive heard Spar Urethane is a good protector for climate changes and protects against the sun. Seeing as how im staining a drum set that I will use outside from time to time and since i move it around alot, would this be better, and can it be used after oil staining or only on gel staining. Please Help and Thanks in advance. Open Question: is there a website that allows you to customize a wall decal?i want to order a wall "sticker" decal in a pearl white color that says "some girls were born with glitter in their veins" like in a cursive text... does anyone know a website that will allow me to either order one that is already made or customize one? thanks for your help! Open Question: When you paint your different rooms in a small house/apt, is it better to leave the ceiling...?...white in the rooms? This place consists of two bedrooms and one bath, plus the living room and kitchen. One bedroom is very small. I thought the kitchen and living room should have the ceiling white and the rest of the rooms painted the color of the walls. We picked out a pretty 'lemony yellow for the kitchen/living room, a pretty medium color blue for the bath, and one bedroom is a pretty medium mint green, and the other one for my daughter is a pink, not too dark though (She loves pink). Does anyone have a different color in each room of your house? Is this a crazy idea? What if the living room/kitchen are one color and the rest are all different? I have always had to live in 'rentals' so have never been able to paint other than white so this place I wanted to have color in. Give me your ideas. The whole place is only around 700 sq ft, which is real small! Tell me what you would do with that amount of space.
