Open Question: How can I remove scratches on a hardwood floor? and more... Open Question: How can I remove scratches on a hardwood floor? My hardwood floors were all nice and shiny, then I left on vacation to find my furniture moved by my son when I returned. Now I'm seeing scratches across my beautiful hardwood floors, What can I do to remove them, I don't want to have to refinish the floors again. Open Question: what are some things that are typically in a regular garage?Open Question: Question about what colour to paint my room?..?Im having a baby boy, and we have to share a room lol. I'm living with my parents currently, and Im quite young (I'm 16, please dont judge me i did a stupid thing I'm dealing with it and staying in school) My room is currently this colour http://www.candlechem.com/images/D152teal.gif i've had it for 6 years and im TIRED of blue. my carpets are green. (all throughout the second floor, my parents wanted to save money in the 80's :P) I was thinking that a dark purple like this perhaps would be alright? http://www.kog.com/Graphics/Samples/805.jpg Orange is out of the question, i hate orange If i could i'd paint my room green. Any suggestions that could be fitting for both me and my baby? cant stand neutral colours, I like colour Open Question: can you use a fabric steamer to remove wallpaper?Open Question: What's the best way to go about re-staining my coffee table...I would love some advice :)?I've sanded off all the old finish and stain and I want some advice about stain and brushes and what's the best way to get started, and just general advice anyone has... I'm planning on staining it dark, like a cherry or mahogany (I have an entertainment center and shelves that I took a sample to Home Depot and the Minwax color I liked and matched well was Bombay Mahogany). First part to my first question: Where should I get the stain and what should I get? I don't want to have to spend a lot of money, but I want the table to have a nice finish to it, smooth, and shiny...Gloss? Semi-gloss? Satin?...Should I buy a separate clear polyurethane for a top coat? How much should I need? Gallon? A couple quarts? The table is 48" long, 26" wide, 5" thick and has an open bottom shelf (so basically, double those dimensions b/c it's like 2 surfaces) plus the posts, 4 of them about 12" round... What should I use for the brushes? Foam? Natural? I saw on this one do-it-yourself show someone using a rag...? Could I use my old brushes that I've used to paint with? Or would that "contaminate" the stain color? I'm just looking for general advice, hopefully from people who have done this themselves, I want to do the best job I can so I want to get as much info before I actually start tackling the staining itself... Oh, and BTW, I have asked people at places like Home Depot and Lowes and I'm just not getting the info, actually it's almost like I know more than them and most of the people I have talked to aren't very informative, lol!
