Open Question: How can i update my 1950's peach and terra cotta colored fully tiled bathroom without gutting the whole thing?I just bought a really neat 1950's retired airforce base house with lots of possibilities...but i can't for the life of me figure out what to do with the bathroom. It has a really old nasty water damaged vanity which i would like to replace and a tub that could maybe just be resurfaced but i don't want to get into the construction stuff until i figure out exactly what i'm doing with the rest of it.. right now i have kilz white walls awaiting some color. I've put up samples of a minty green paint and a buttery sort of antique white, but i'm not sure i really love either one. Note: this is not a cool 50's Mamie Pink bathroom.. that i could work with since i have little girls...But mine? it looks more like the fish room..we're talkin salmon colored tiles...HELP Open Question: Is it a bad color scheme?see my friend has her room blood red and blue and i think it looks awesome. I didnt want to copy her so I decided dark purple and blue but my mom thinks itll look awful! I think it will look okay (blue is more of an indigo) I suggested earlier gray, darker dray and blood red. I think it looks to neutral and needs a color to make it POP. so does my color scheme look good? horrible? suggestions? another color scheme? no pink unless hot... am not that girly (they label me emo :/) so... no orange or bright color schemes. please Color scheme my mom wants: Gray, darker gray, blood red My color scheme: gray, dark purple, blue (more of an indigo) Alt. 1: gray, blood red, blue (i know I said i didnt want to copy but...) Alt. 2: gray, blue, dark blue which do u like the best? greatest to least? I am in the process of reinventing my bedroom, and would like some ideas on how to make a Gothic bedroom, with traces of Victorian Era styles as well. I have a bed with purple pillow and purple quillt, a dark navy blue bedside table with a dark purple lamp, and burgundy red curtains. So far I beleive I'm on the right track. So any ideas? :) Open Question: How to decorate my bedroom?? Is this a good idea? What els can I do?Im trying to decorate my bedroom! Because the walls are so plain. So what I have been doing is drawing floral designs on poster board, and hanging it in my room! not big poster board, like 1/4 or 1/3 of a poster board! They look like they have been done professionally, so I think they look aamzing. It ties my whole room together!! Do you think this is a good idea?? What other ways can I decorate my room? I put some fake roses in a vase, and placed them on my vanity, and they look great too:) So what els can I do?? *10 pts to best answer! With a lot of ideas, and detail* Open Question: what color should i dye a mint green fabric if the resulting color i want is orange?Open Question: I was pulling out carpet and under the carpet was black chalky stuff. anybody know what it is?Open Question: Can I use boards to make my own wood floor? We really like the rustic look for wood floor. Can we just get unfinished boards, nail them down and sand them, put on a sealant and be done with it? Would this work? Open Question: Paint Suggestion for Living Room?Hi, I need help with paint colors. We have a dark brown micro suede sectional with pillows that are the same chocolate brown and a couple that are a tan color. We have a rug in the same area that has dark blue, dark red, tan, gold, and a sage color stripes on it. We have black shelves up and a TV stand that is a lighter brown color (we live on a military base and the shopping here is very limited so some of the items are mismatched) Also, it's a very large and open living room. In the same room we also have our barstools that are black and a dark brown wood with dark red cushions on them. In the room there's a trim that is a dark chocolate brown and that's one thing we can't change since it is military housing and we are only allowed to do so much. At the sliding door we have up sheer gold and deep red curtains. That pretty much gives all the colors in the room. Oh, and also the carpet has a lot of tan and dark brown colors in it. Ok, so we went and started to paint one of the main and larger walls a dark blue..almost like a navy blue but it turned out to have a brighter blue shade to it once it dried. Now that we look at it it just doesn't seem to match at all especially with the dark trim in the room. It just feels VERY overwhelming with such a strong color on such a large wall. Also, we're suppose to be getting some art work that will have the colors black, white, and some red. Any suggestions on colors would be great. We're very lost when it comes to finding a color. I believe we'll be buying some primer very soon and going back to the eggshell color that was originally there. More Recent Articles
