Open Question: What are good ways to keep your room peaceful? And organized? I love my rooms smelling good, and I love plants. But I can't keep plants in my room because I have no sun for them. What could I do to just put little things around my room and keep it nice? Open Question: What do I do to fix a hardwood floor after refinishing problem? We sanded our hardwood floor to refinish it. All of a sudden, the nails showed up - we couldn't really see them before sanding, now we have black nail heads on nice brown hardwood. How do we fix it so the nails don't show so drastically? Open Question: How to I make the lights work in FloorPlan 3D v10?I'm trying to figure out what my lights look like when they're on in FloorPlan 3D v10 because I want to see if I have too many lights or not. If I can't find some way to see what the lights look like when they're turned on, is there some type of formula or something I can do to determine how much space a light is shining on and how many lights I'll need for the room? Thanks for your help! Open Question: tan carpet, tan furniture, green curtains, what wall color? We are remodeling our living room and I need some advice. We have very light tan carpet, brown furniture, black end tables and TV and light green curtains. I want to paint the living room but unsure what color to go with. I really don't want to change the curtain color because I think it goes really well with the furniture and carpet but I will change them if I have to. What color do you think would look nice on my walls? Open Question: Are glass panels for showers expensive? You know like the tile showers with glass all around them. I do things myself, so there is no labor cost. A contractor will never step foot in my door and do something that I can do. People who hire contractors are lazy, if they have the time to do it themselves. I'm not saying contractors don't do a good job, it's just why would I pay for something I can do my self. Anyway, i was just wondering how much shower glass panels usually cost. Open Question: What color should I paint my apartment?Hey guys. I want to paint my apartment walls which are right now a dark smoky navy blue(which I like). I feel like i need a change. I've studied psychology as one of my majors in college so i know that blue is a turn off because its cold, red builds up your appetite for you(just check out all the logos of McDonalds and Burger King and KFC and Nestle and etc...) and brown, which is what i really want, makes you feel like you should leave(dont know why). Even though I'd like brown.. i cant bring myself to paint my walls brown. The problem is, I dont want my walls to be white, black, gray, teal, blue, brown, red, purple, beige, green, off white or any other color like that. Gray and white are totally out of the question. I want a dark color. My apartments small but dark colors feel cosy ..not too dark of course. Blue is too cold and I'd need to find a great tone of it but I'm going to paint it myself so i cant mix stuff or pay someone.. a slightly dark beige sounds like the best idea because its nowhere near green or blue and its a natural tone.. tell me what you think. If you have knowledge on interior design, please feel free to give me your opinion. a BIG thank you to all you who answer:) Open Question: Interior paint colors that compliment red brick?I'm having a hard time with deciding what color I'm going to paint my kitchen... one wall is exposed red brick. The cabinets are a mahogany color. I want to keep the brick & the cabinets the way they are but I really want to offset the warmness, as I am a fan of cooler colors, but I don't want anything to clash. My living room is painted a very light, subtle blue, with black, light taupe, and silver accents. The entry has a damask print wallpaper and the dining room is painted a light taupe with black and blue accents, similar to the living room, with a splash of red to tie in the kitchen. I feel the light blue color that I painted in the living room wouldn't go well with the brick, but I want the house to have a consistent feel. Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Open Question: Question about mixing/matching hardwood flooring..?I am re-doing the living room in my home, and want to go from carpet to hardwood flooring. I have read that different colors can be used in one room on the floor but the only mentions of this are in a set pattern (i.e. most of the floor being one color with some type of specific pattern or border in another color). My idea was to mix and match different colored planks in no set pattern. I'm using Bruce hardwood in oak, and would use three colors. The main color would be the oak in the gunstock finish, with planks of oak in natural and auburn dispersed throughout as well. The three colors look good together, but is it wise to use all three on the floor at once? I like unique looks but I don't want the floor to be random. Open Question: Living room decorating ideas?ok first of all the walls are wood panell so i can't paint them. i have a coffee table and a corner table and a lamp. i dont have a couch or any other furniture but i do have a treadmill that will have to go in the living room. any ideas for me? im on a very tight budget. Open Question: Where can I find a towel rack like this online..?Sorry the pic is not the best, but thats all I have since its broken now. http://yfrog.com/49w475h3566j I have tried looking and all I can find are ones that are really square instead of rectangle like mine was and that won't work as there is a cut out in the wall for it. If you can find me one I will be sooo thankful! More Recent Articles
