Thank you Open Question: Half bath in second floor of a Cape?Hi everyone. I recently purchased a cape style house, built in the 1950s. It's very small (square footage of whole house is a little under 1100 sq ft). There's one full bathroom and bedroom downstairs, and two bedrooms upstairs that were very roughly finished. Today I ripped down the walls of those to the studs and insulation. I was hoping to get a half bath (just a tiny sink and toilet) at the top of the stairs in an unused space but run into the problem of the chimney being right there at the top of the steps beyond a small landing. I can make it with my heigh but anyone taller than 5'6" would not fit in something that could be put there. Any ideas for placement or options? I can't afford to dormer it. Anyways,I have a really super tiny room, the smallest in the house. -.- And I'm a 13 year old girl, and I really think I need a bigger bedroom. My mom has the biggest bedroom in the house, and she has the biggest bed. She has a queen-sized bed. I have a twin/double sized, and that's good enough for me. We have some smaller mattresses downstairs that my mom could use if she went into my room. It's just that I need more space,and I have more things than her, that need space, and I'm getting a new dresser tomorrow, and clearing out all my tables. So I'll just have a dresser with a huge mirror on it, a bed, ,my closet, a stool for the vanity, and a little table for the side of my bed.Also a small bookcase. I think that I should have the bigger room, not that I don't care about my mom, I really do. But I feel that it's unfair that I have the smallest bedroom. And I don't want to move downstairs, either. It isn't really a bedroom-type place down there. I keep asking if I can switch rooms, but my parents keep switching the subject and saying no.
