So the first layer is paint and huuuge popcorn texture, then wallpaper, then random patches of coumpound, then more wallpaper, then drywall. I just spent hours and hours pulling off the paint and whatever came with it. so there are dark brown fuzzy spots, light brown which im guessing is wallpaper backing(?) and then compound is showing, and white chaulky drywall is showing. the dark brown fuzzy part is hard to tell if its down to below the drywall or just wallpaper backing and im scared to try and remove it in case its the drywall. HELP. what do i do to get flat smooth walls to paint? Open Question: Can I paint over an Ikea pre-finished nightstand-- and if so, how?I bought an Ikea Aneboda nightstand, which comes "prefinished." Rather than natural wood, they use some kind of particle board with a top coating that resembles paint. They used white; i want to custom-color the item. Can ikea furniture of this sort-- furniture that's not painted wood but rather finished with a synthetic coating-- be painted?? If so, would i use spray paint, acrylic paint, or something else? Do i have to sand the item-- can it even be sanded, or would that damage it, since it's not really wood but just a "pre-finished" coating? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks!
