Open Question: Any advice for painted kitchen cabinets?

My kitchen cabinets are a mess! They are 1980's solid oak. Last year, my father-in-law sanded, primed, then, painted them. Before he did that, the original finish was wearing off and becoming sticky. He painted them with a latex paint. I didn't know he shouldn't have done that. Someone told me he should have done it with oil-based paint. He probably should have known better, but, the guy is in his 70s. Anyway, moisture from cooking got beneath the paint. Now, the paint is peeling and sticking! What can I do? I would really appreciate any advice. Thank you.

Open Question: Why would a pair of couches cost more together than if I bought them individually?

I found a pair of couches on a furniture website that I like. The total for the set is more than if I bought each couch individually. Why is that?
