Open Question: How do I prevent scratching on a wood finish?

I just recently purchased a rather large new desk from an office supply store. Per the manufacturer's site, much of the desk is made of particleboard. After assembling it, within minutes of placing my computer on the desk, I had scratched the finish. I haven't even started to put all of my other office supplies on the computer, and I am concerned that it scratches so easily. It was extremely heavy and difficult to put together, so I do not want to return it. Does anyone have any advice for how to prevent scratching on an item like this? Is there any kind of clear coating that I can add? Many thanks!

Open Question: Single Garage Conversion?

The property is about 13 years old. It has a pitched roof but inside the ceiling is flat. There is already an entrance from the house into the garage. We were looking no more than £6000. Do you know any good conversion companies?

Open Question: How should I rearrange my bedroom?

I really want to rearrange my room because I am getting tired of how it is now. My room is a decent size. It has an odd shape though. When you walk in, there is a closet door on a very small wall (too small to put anything on) and to the left is my bedroom door. There is a rectangular shaped area and it opens into a square shaped area. All the way on the right, there is another closet door. My walls are each a different color (pink, yellow, purple, and teal). I need to find places to put my bed, a fairly large dresser with a mirror, a taller dresser, a desk, nightstand, bookcase, and tv stand. Please help. I really don't know what to do with it.
