Open Question: Vintage redecorating?

I am 15 turning 16 soon and my dream is to become a decorator, because i love homes and decorations and making things look beautiful. Our back guest bedroom was recently remodeled and will now be a "hangout" room for my friends and I, complete with a flat screen TV and pull out couch. It's a fairly small room but I had high hopes that maybe we could decorate the room around a retro gumball machine that we own that I planned on putting back there. Henceforth..I wanted it retro. But my mother doesn't want it to look vintage and I don't think she understands exactly what I want with my idea. I've looked into it and vintage stuff is cheap enough yet she won't budge. How can i convince her? Thank you :)

Open Question: Re-doing bedroom. What color should I paint the walls?

I'm re-doing my bedroom in a few weeks, and I have picked out this bedding from Delia's. I'm going to use the reversed side (black and white stripes) instead of the purple and pink side. However, the shams, the bedskirt, and the decorative pillows will all have the purple and pink pattern. I'm re-painting my walls along with this change, and I really don't want to use purple or pink paint. What color should I choose? Here's the link to the bedding: http://store.delias.com/browse.do;jsessionid=5AF52D7911CB07C4E1EF230B560C22C9.worker2?categoryID=2213&shopnavTrack=roomwares.bordeaux

Open Question: I'm wondering if the seams in my granite countertop are too big and if they are filled properly?

It was installed just a few days ago. It's black granite. There is one seam about halfway between the L-bend and the sink and it looks very obvious to me. It just looks too big, and there is more glue at one end than the other (I can see the clear glue). Also, the seam along the back of the countertop (there is also a short backsplash in the same granite) is filled with the same clear glue and it looks uneven (the glue) and too obvious. I don't know if I'm being too picky and looking to closely, or if I shouldn't see the seams and glue at all. How can I tell?

Open Question: Need help deciding what color for the cabinets etc. please help pics attached?

Hi, we just bought a house and i was really wanting a hearts and stars kitchen, the the kitchen is allready decorated in green country? would you change it or would you leave it as it is in your opinion? Also if you would change it what colors would you go with for the cabinets and walls? I can not decide what would look better. After i look at the kitchen it is doable but i just dont know if there is just to much green? Also please excuse the mess of the house, we have not moved in yet and just bought it, it was a foreclosure home and there stuff is still there.
