Open Question: I have a hidden room in my house, but don't have a clue what it was used for help!?Like i said i have a hidden room in my house. you wouldn't notice it unless u were looking for it, the door to the room in is a cupboard/unit witch is built into the wall. the lock on the small door is on the outside leading into the door. u can only acces the room from under my house in a Very narrow hole in the wall. it is not tiled or concreted its just plain dirt and on the door leading into my house their is no Handle or knob no actual way to open it from inside since it opens in. and in one of th holes in the wall their is a cat collar probably from a stray cat also inside the room is a big cabinet. i have researched the house history and believe it was built in 1986-1990. what could this room be used for i haven't the faintest idear??? I forgot to add their is also power runing to the room, power plugs and lights and switches of course lol. i think the alen idear is pritty cool know where i can get ahold of any?? i ment alien Open Question: What should be used to wipe/wash down walls that have semi-gloss creme colored paint?Open Question: i want to know if i can use an orange colour window blind in a livingg room that has a dark green upholstery c?Open Question: a question about mini blinds?I have a wide but short window in my kitchen. I want to buy some mini blinds from walmart today. They have some wide enough but that makes them extremely long. I see that you can shorten them. Is there a limit as to how much you can shorten them? I would need to take more than half of the blinds off. Thanks for your help. Open Question: How much fabric would I need to make a queen sized blanket?I want to make a blanket out of zebra print material because I'm re-doing my room and that's the theme. How much would I need? I kind of want like fleece or something warm, but not hot. Any sites I can get fabric for cheap?? Open Question: I am refinishing countertops in my kitchen.?I managed apartments for years and we frequently "refinished" the formica type cabinet tops - done by professionals - who put a "slick as glass" new finish on top of the old counter top for a smaller price than replacing them. This gave me the idea to redo some in a rental house I did myself a couple of years ago. Painted three coats of red paint on sanded formica, then antique treated with an antique leather look (antiquing liquid applied with a crunched plastic bag), then covered this with several coats of polyurethane. This looked like antique leather. Looked absolutely wonderful - just did not wear as well as I had hoped and was easily scratched. In restaurants I have seen tops on tables with a resin coat that was thick, glass-like and durable. Any hints on how this could be applied to countertops with an edging since the tables usually had an edging that stood up forming a "pan" rather than a flat rim like fomica counters. Don't tell me to buy granite - if I could afford that I would be doing it. Thanks for any suggestions. Open Question: Are there any stonemasons here?Need to repair sandstone wheel?I have an old, probably Victorian sandstone wet grinding wheel which is hand cranked,I want to restore and also really use it to sharpen my knives and tools,Unfortunately there is a chip in the leading edge of the wheel which shells out down the side I do not want to cut the face back to get past the chip as this would take about 1,1/4" inches off of the stone, so my question is does any one know of a method of filling or repairing the chip. Thanks in anticipation Open Question: Can paint thinner or paint fumes hurt me?Or it may even be some type of glue. I work in the office of a hotel and right now we are going through renovations. There are people covering chairs down the hall. Not sure if they are also finishing them but the smell is horrible. I guess not really paint. I don't know the chemical that they are using so I guess it's going to be hard for opinions. My sinus' are killing me and I'm a bit light headed. Everyone in the office just calls me a hypochondriac and is ignoring the fact that this stuff is bothering me. More Recent Articles
