Open Question: How can I keep my floral curtains from making my living room look like a little old lady's?

I have some Laura Ashley curtains that I got new for super cheap at a sale. They are cream background with red and pink and blue flowers and green and beige leaves. They are probably 75% cream. I thought they were shabby chic when I bought them, and I painted my living room a soft mossy green to match them. The couch matches the beige in the curtains too. Now what? I need some things to hang on the wall, but am more attracted to edgy art that clashes with the room and everything I look at that "matches" the curtains looks old lady-ish to me. Do I need to just dump the curtains? I really like them and don't want to :(

Open Question: How to disassemble IKEA furniture (book shelf)?

I'm buying some IKEA book shelves from someone on Craigslist, and when we go to pick it up, we have to disassemble it to get the shelves to fit into our car. Does anyone know if a hex wrench, or philips screwdriver, would work? Is there a typical tool that is required to assemble/disassemble IKEA furniture? Thanks!

Open Question: How much does a drywall contractor cost for a private home in Glasgow?

We are thinking of buying a new flat in Glasgow but would like to put up a few walls to partition the flat. We'd like to do that with drywall but do not know any contractors or what to expect for costings. Does anyone have any ideas about this/what to expect/how to go about hiring someone?

Open Question: Chair mat that will last?

Several years ago I bought a chair mat to put over my berber carpet so my desk chair would roll easily. It has now gotten brittle and has cracked into large chunks. Anyone know of a chair mat that will last?

Open Question: Alcohol stained my coach bag!!?

Hi :( My bag had a pen stain and I wanted to remove it, and I thought alcohol would be the only thing that would take it off. I grabbed a swab, put alcohol on it and started scrubbing on the stained surface. the material was gunmetal. (the silver surface on the picture) http://cgi.ebay.com/NWT-Coach-Signature-Stripe-tote-13548-black-gunmetal_W0QQitemZ260532452783QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_CSA_WH_Handbags?hash=item3ca8f1bdaf#ht_641wt_1167 Now the silver color removed where I applied the alcohol and there's a darker grey tone. you can see it from distance! it's AWFUL :( What can I do to fix it? I LIVE IN LATIN AMERICA. I BOUGHT THE BAG 3 YEARS AGO IN USA. THERE'S NO COACH STORE ON MY COUNTRY. :(
