Open Question: I need help removing exterior paint from wood? and more... Open Question: I need help removing exterior paint from wood?OK. 50 year old house. Badly peeling paint on wood on the "ceiling" of the porch - under the eaves. We've pressure washed. We've tried scraping. Even applied a stripper. Then tried sanding - but it's really NOT working very well... Is there something easier that I just don't know about. It's flaking all over..... but doesn't want to come off. Open Question: Any tips on how to redecorate my room?OK, I'm thirteen, but I want to do some redecorating. I can't buy new furniture, and I can't paint my walls. I hate my walls, they're light blue, and I don't really like the color. The first thing I see when I walk in is my bed. On my walls, Twilight posters are everywhere, accompanied by some framed pictures, a couple cork boards, and some sweaters on nails. I also have a keyboard and three guitars, I need a place for them. I have some board games under my desk and under my bed, along with extra pillows and blankets. I'm big on books, so I have a bookcase filled with them, plus, on my headboard, I have my library books. My desk is broken, but still usable. I also have old movies stacked in a corner with an old dollhouse I've had since I was ten. Please help, my room SUCKS! Open Question: UK-where can I buy some flat pack MFI-esque wardrobes?Open Question: How to stick acoustic foam to the ceiling/walls?I have a shed load of acoustic foam to put up in my home studio. I put it up on the walls and covered the entire ceiling last summer and apart from a few small pieces its all fallen down. I used a heavy duty carpet adhesive which has taken to the wall, and also (surprisingly) not been soaked up by the tile, but the two just fell apart. Its not practical to screw to the wall or hook etc so I need some sort of adhesive that will hold the tiles up (ceiling seems to be especially bad). I'm in the UK so wondered if I popped to B&Q and got No More Nails type stuff or EvoStick/EvoGrip, whther that would work? But at a few pound a pop I don't want to buy 6 different specimins just to see which one works! Cheers Open Question: Anyone have any bedroom decorating tips?OK, I'm thirteen, and today my parents and I are going to be moving around furniture and such. I have a large, very heavy TV, that we're going to attempt to put on milk crates, so that I don't have to sit on the floor to watch TV. I also have an electric keyboard, and three guitars. I also have a saxophone that I have at school, but I have to bring it home for a concert I will be playing in next week. There's a hamper, and a fan on my floor, but the fan is lifted each night onto a chair so I can have it on when I sleep. My bed is too high for a fan to be sitting on the floor, and I get anything from it. On my dresser, I have a mirror, and on that mirror, there's pictures, a movie ticket, certificates, and a poem. There's also perfume, jewelry, my Edward and Bella dolls, my nail stuff, my makeup, my hair stuff, my deodorant, lotion, some pictures in frames, a mini mirror, two Cullen crests, and a lamp. On top of my TV are my remotes, a cable box, a DVD player, and a VCR, and a picture of my boyfriend. My old bedside table is behind my door with my trash can under it. On my headboard, there are two compartments for things, and in one, I have some journals for multiple projects I want to start, a book light, my old glasses, (long story about the glasses. To cut it short, I can't read with my new glasses on, and I have to read with my old glasses on.) and my flip video camera. In the other compartment, I have a math stencil I found on the bus, and am returning to the teacher on Monday, a book light, my DVDs, and my music case. In between them, I have my library books, and my glasses case. On top of my headboard, I have my alarm clock. Covering my walls are Twilight posters, a calender for the countdown to Eclipse, a regular puppy calender, a picture of my father, a 3D picture of a ship, and a stitching thing my grandmother made the day I was born. There's also a few sweaters hanging on nails, and two cork boards. In the top right corner of my room, my fan, my old school backpack, and two guitars are there. On my desk, there's a lamp, a pencil sharpener, a lava lamp, and a basket of junk. In a container that's connected to my desk, I have my board games, and my writing binder. Under the table where my keyboard rests are my shoes, they're in a small container, then my art stuff in a pink container. On my bookcase are my books, of course, some magazines that I hope to make into a collage for my room, my yearbooks from fifth and seventh grade, some music books, a Twilight bucket holding some stuff, a broken basket with another smaller basket inside holding twine and beads, it's on top of a wood shop project I made last year, which was a box, and it's empty. Those things are on top of a box, which holds tons of things. next to that is my science project I have to bring to school Monday. On my hanging shelves that my grandfather made, there are figurines, a small set of drawers holding a few things, such as my sewing equipment. Then my memory box, and some things from my dad. I also have my snow globe collection on it too. On my other shelf, there's a Wicca shrine. On a little table next to my dresser is a small table with a little purple lined basket. That's empty. I can't paint, wallpaper, or buy new furniture, but I'd like some tips on how to make my room seem bigger. The first thing I see when I walk in is my bed. That's annoying. Please help me out, and sorry for the lengthy explanation. Open Question: What do you do when you cant decide what colour(s) to pain your bedroom?I'm in the UK and the paint you can get here is pretty boring,I wanted something vibrant, bordering on lairy! I cant decide though which colours to use and just seem to have constant arguments with myself, first it was pink, then blue, then yellow, the choosing is too hard! Open Question: What color should we paint our family room?We just recently bought a house and we want to paint before we move in. The house is very open and if your sitting in the dining room you can see both the living room and the family room. We're painting the dining room/kitchen a reddish color and the living room is going to be a light green with chair rail all around and we're going to sponge on a darker green on the bottom of the wall. What do you think would be a good color for the family room that would also blend in with the other colors? More Recent Articles
