Open Question: Is purchasing NON white bathroom fixtures a good idea? and more... Open Question: Is purchasing NON white bathroom fixtures a good idea?Just wondering if it is a good idea to consider getting non-white tub/sink/toilet suite? I know that was a trend in the past, but now that everyone has gone back to white it's getting boring. I'm not thinking anything radical, just perhaps getting almond, biscuit, or maybe light grey bath fixtures instead of plain white. For instance, here's the Kohler tub we're getting and it comes in 12 colors: http://www.us.kohler.com/onlinecatalog/detail.jsp?prod_num=715 Open Question: Who manufactured a white iron crib for JCPenney in 2005?I'm trying to find the manufacturer of a white iron crib from JCPenney that was purchased in 2005. The bed has been discontinued, and JCPenney couldn't locate the manufacturer. Open Question: how do I find real wood flooring to lay in my kitchen, that doesn't sit up higher than my carpet?all the wood flooring I have found is thick. do they make real wood floors that are thinner like laminate ones are? thank you :) Open Question: how to paint over nicotine?ive already done 3 layers of normal paint (matt emulsion) and the nigotine just came (my first time painting and noone bothered to warn me) i have bought some undercoat but before i use that is there anything else i have to before i use the undercoat? Open Question: is it better to lay new tile in a kitchen, rather than use a fake surface laminate wood flooring?all materials in my home are solid right now.. but I love the look of wood floors, but am afraid it will wear fast if it's the faux wood. I found that real wood is thick and will be up high on the floors, so I canno't use that. thanks for any advice! Open Question: Where can I purchase a brick veneer for a kitchen backsplash? looking for a lighter colored brick, thank you!?Open Question: Open Neutral on a 3 way circuit?I have a home that uses Romex and one of the receptacles in the room is not working properly. This outlet is controlled by a two 3 way switches. When I use one switch, the receptacle turns on and I can then turn it off at the other switch. If I reverse the process, I can turn off the receptacle and then if I'm at the switch that I started at, that switch will not turn on the receptacle. All the other receptacles work fine and this is the only 3 way switch controlled receptacle in the room. I used my circuit tester and it shows an open neutral. If I turn on/off one of the 3 way switches then I can turn on/off the open neutral display. If I use the other 3 way switch, then the circuit tester does not show an open neutral display when I turn the 3 way switch on/off. What do I need to do to correct this problem? Open Question: 3D Outdoor/Sunlight Photo!!!!!!?I work in an office with no windows at all. Does anyone know of somewhere I can buy a big photograph to put on our wall? something, that maybe pops out or looks realistic as if it was a window looking outside? Something with lights and maybe moves around, like those moving pictures you can find someplaces. I live near Cincinnati, Ohio, i would really like to be able to actually go somewhere and look at something in person. But if it has to be ordered online, i'll try that. Thanks so Much!!!!!! Open Question: Which home improvement projects should we do first? We just bought our first home in June. We painted several rooms and have a couple more to finish. Aside from painting there are several projects we would like to do over the next several years we just aren't sure what order we should do them in. Also, should we take out a home equity loan or line of credit? If so, what projects would we take out a loan for? Do we pay it completely off before doing another project? For example, if we the out loan or line of credit for windows do we pay that off over several years before doing the deck? I would appreciate some feedback from people with experience in this area. Our home was built in 92 and is a split foyer style house. The basement (family room) is finished with 4th bedroom. We plan to be here a long time the 7-10 year range at least. The following projects are on our list: Concrete poured in front steps (currently there are stones) Knee wall built in place of ugly metal railing in upstairs living room (dad and uncle are doing this) Deck off of upstairs dining room (sliding door is already there, dad and uncle are doing this as well) New lighting in kitchen (fluorescent lighting currently) New lighting in dining room and front entryway New lighting and medicine cabinets in master and main bathroom Finish laundry room (rest of family room is finished) Add 1/2 bath in laundry room (dad and uncle are doing this too) New windows and sliding doors throughout entire house (they're original and not efficient) Replace front door I appreciate you taking the time to read my question. I apologize for the length. We aren't experienced DIY's. My dad and uncle have experience doing some of this stuff not all though. More Recent Articles
