Open Question: Cost of floor tiling and prep work (UK)?

I'm about to get some quotes for having my kitchen floor tiled and want to plan a budget and have an idea what to expect. We will supply the tiles which are basic 45cm X 45cm ceramic. The area is 30m2 kitchen / dining room / utility (so a few corners). From other questions on here I guess around £20/m2 is perhaps an average price for fixing the tiles? What about the adhesive and grout and any other stuff? What about preparation? There are about 20m2 of old tiles on a concrete floor to be removed. My husband's hoping to have time to do this himself but if he can't how much should we expect to pay? The existing tiles don't go right to the back of the fitted kitchen units so not too difficult from that point of view. We live in the North West of the UK. (Please, no remarks like it's cheaper to do it yourself - we would if we had the time!) THANKS! :o)

Open Question: Can wood stain be applied using a paintbrush?

Or does it need to be applied with a cloth? I always get stain all over my hands with a cloth, and it is a pain in the butt to remove it from my hands when finished. Rubber gloves are not an option because the stain eventually eats thru the latex, defeating the purpose.

Open Question: Cant make my mind up! Help? New wardrobe...?

Hey :) I'm 18 and female and re-doing my room. We have a pretty low budget. I'm a bit OCD when it comes to things matching! I also like white/neutral things. I originally wanted a big white wardrobe... Or a mirrored one. However, due to our low budget If i went for a white wardrobe that's all I could literally afford. So I would have a bed and a wardrobe in my room! OR, I could buy a cheap pine/oak wardrobe from Ikea and because it's so cheap.. I could also buy the matching chest of drawers and bed side cabinet. I know this may not seem like a big deal to some, but it really is to me. My unorganised and mis-matched bedroom drives me insane. So, which should I get? I'm worried that If i go for the pine colour one I would start to dislike it and want a new white one? But I'm not sure. Argos have a cheap white bedroom furniture set (It's like £130 for a 3 door wardrobe, chest of drawers and bed side cabinet!!) But my parents are really reluctant to buy furniture from Argos!! Anyone had any experience??

Open Question: Where can I find cheap, funky rugs to decorate my house with?

I just moved into a new house and I'm excited because its the first place I have all to myself (instead of roommates). Which means, I have 100% control over decoration=) I love decorating but I notice this house is in desperate need for some rugs. In the living room and kitchen especially, I need some rugs. I am a 25 year old female so of course I like colorful, funky, chick looking rugs. I can't seem to find any in my town so I'm now looking online. But I can't seem to find any online either. I did a search for "funky rugs" and all I get are traditional, boring rugs with bland designs and patterns that are usually expensive name brand rugs. I found one site that has a few cool rugs but its based out of the UK and I'd rather have it ship out of the states. I want to find something colorful with purple or even rainbow or glow in the dark designs. lol, maybe a little psychedelic. Nothing like the traditional rug my grandma has in her dining room.
