Open Question: I really need to remodel my room? and more...

Open Question: I really need to remodel my room?

My room is incredibly small, and I hate it. One of the walls is a mirror closet taking up the whole wall, and two walls are wood boards. There is only one wall that I can paint. Plus it is very small. I really want to remodel my room and get new furniture that makes a room that is nice to hang out in. I have a loft bed, but it isn't up right now, I'm debating whether I should put it up. Basically, I need help on how to make a tiny bedroom very relaxing and cool. I'm 13. Please help, and send links. Please!

Open Question: To anyone who has hired a Home Improvement/Remodeling Company.?

I'm helping my son-in-law set up his own small company, and trying to pick the best avenues for his marketing dollars. How did you first find or select the company you called for bids? Did you pick it out from a coupon in something like Valpak...an on-line search...a yard sign you drove by...seeing signage on one of their vehicles...an ad magazine you received in the mail like the 'Shavvy Shopper'. Needless to say any ideas or feedback would be appreciated.

Open Question: How does one find - and keep - a good plumber?

I have the worst luck ever with plumbers. Shoddy work, overcharging, having to call them back to fix something they didn't fix the first time... And when I *did* find a good plumber, I called him to come out for minor repair, and his receptionist told me he wouldn't do it! Nor did they recommend someone else. I live in an area that still has a lot of growth going on, so I'm thinking they want the "big" jobs, like a whole house, and nobody wants to be bothered to come out and check on a water heater, or replace a shower head. Does anyone have suggestions for getting these routine plumbing chores handled by a reputable professional? What should I be looking for? I have asked friends who they use, and that is what landed me in all the bad situations with previous plumbers. I don't think it's me, or my attitude (although I was beginning to take it personally: "I've been FIRED by my plumber?!?!") because I don't have this problem at all with other trades.
