Open Question: Remove extractor and block chimney?

Hi, I have removed an old hob extrctor from an old house. The previous owners had put the extractor into an chimney so this leaves with me hole in my kitchen ceiling going up up to the roof. It is a round hole, brick walls with the chimney lined. There are no other chimneys feeding into it. Can I just block this off? How should I block it in the kitchen? Obviously if I block it i will also have to block it off at the roof side (maybe i'll wait to summer for climbing up there though!). Thanks

Open Question: Will a California king mattress fit on a king size bed frame?

My parents are giving my husband and I their king size bedroom suit, minus the mattress set (I don't care to sleep on something that someone else has been sleeping on for years). My husband is very tall, 6'3", and wants to purchase a california king mattress. Before I go out and purchase one I would like to know, from someone who has already dealt with this, will it fit. Thanks in advance for your answers!

Open Question: How can I make money of of my old unused appliances?

I have a bunch of appliances and such that I either don't need or are broken laying around. This includes TVs, kitchen appliances, a CRT computer monitor and other things. We want to get rid of all of these things, but I wanted to know if there was any way I can make money off of these without just throwing them away. We are urgently in need of money. So if we could this that would be really great. Anything like taking it to some kind of association that will take stuff like this off of your hands and give you a small sum of money. Something along those lines.
