I pulled up the carpet, 2 layers of linoleum, 1 layer of cement board, a layer of what looked like tar paper and another layer of linoleum, and found boards about 8" wide run diagonally across the floor, I can not see the floor joist and have no basement so unsure on there spacing. The floor does have some movement but little. I also heat my house with a wood stove, that the previous owner set directly on the floor and only have about 3/4" to work with so the ash drawer of the stove will still open. I am just wondering what to do that will work best to keep my tile looking great, now and for years to come. I am a stay home mom, doing this alone(agreed with my husband that he would not have to help, after working all day) and really I have plenty of time to work on it. I was told by a friend to thinset the existing floor, cover with durarock, use plenty of durarock screws, let dry, then thinset, and ceramic tile, let dry, then grout... Will this be enough or will I need more. Keep in mind my 3/4" max. And if so how long should the thin set dry between each layer, and does dry time change much considering that I am in North Dakota in the snow melting phase and the humidity is extremely high? and how far from the walls should I leave the Tile? Expansion or contraction?? Thank you Open Question: Does this sound like a cute bedroom?I have a really small bedroom. Two of the walls are redwood and two are a green color. I have a bed that I hate. We cut a bunk bed in half and I got the top half. My sheets and blankets always slide off of it. I have a crappy white dresser that I hate and a big piece of furniture. I don't know what it's called but it's one of those things that have a lot of drawers then the mirror with the lights around it. The mirror broke so I have it around my window. I don't want this anymore though.. I don't really want anything I have anymore. I want to paint my walls white. I want to get this; http://www.target.com/Comforters-Fashion-Bedding-Accessories/b/ref=nav_t_spc_9_inc_5_2/189-8683107-2982630?ie=UTF8&node=372864011 and black pillows too. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Laguna-Nightstand-Black-Woodgrain/11992626 I want that and this; http://www.walmart.com/ip/Laguna-5-Drawer-Dresser-Black-Woodgrain/11980104?povid=cat102547-env200989-module227049-rLink4 I want that as all my furniture. I hate my carpet, its a brownish color with a redish color in it. I want to get a black, white, or grey carpet. Do you have any other ideas? I want my whole room black and white. I am almost 13. I can have a birthday party or $1OO for my birthday, and I think I want to choose the money and save it up to buy that stuff. Do you have any other ideas for my room? And I want to clean it right now, do you have any ideas that will help me clean it faster? Thanks. I know I can't buy everything for 100 bucks, I;m saving more. Open Question: Wood furniture colouring help?Recently I am wanting to change the colour of my wardrobes in my bedroom. They are a light wood colour which is plastic coated. They have a silver metallic strip across the top and silver metallic handles. I am wanting to somehow make them look vintage and change the handles. I also would like the wood to be of darker colouring. How can I do this? Thanks. Open Question: Where can I find solid lime green bedding?I am looking for solid lime green bedding, i've looked everywhere and cant seem to find any....any suggestions? Open Question: We were sold faulty Anderson Windows.....?We've had a problem with argon escaping from our Anderson Windows from when they were installed. They were installed in the early nineties. Since then a few have had to be replaced. Now we find that twenty five windows need replacing! Anderson will give us the windows but won't pay for installation even though they admit that it was a faulty line of windows that they sold us. Is there anything we can do? Anderson said that installation is not covered by warranty (in other words "we sold you a faulty window.. now it's your problem"). The glass panes are actually collapsing in on eachother. Open Question: can you dye leather chairs ?I have a white leather chair and I was wondering if you could it dye it burgendy. Open Question: Did they install a lesser quality Carpet Pad?We had new carpets installed. We chose the 10lbs padding because the seller said the carpet would last longer. Our paperwork said they would install 10lbs 7/16 padding. They had previously installed carpet at my sister's house and 2 other friends and their padding was 10lbs and Green. The samples in the store were Green for the 10lbs. Our padding is Yellow. We notified them and a man came out today and said that it was a 10lbs pad, but would check with the boss to see what they should do...? I just measured the pad and it is 3/8 not 7/16. Do they even make a 10lbs 3/8 pad? Is there any way to tell the difference? Doesn't have a springy feel... More Recent Articles
