They are in good shape, but the current color will not match the new countertops I'm putting in, plus they have a "country" feel to them which is not my style. I would like them to be much much darker and then add new hardware. And they are not custom, so they can easily be moved out/around the kitchen as needs be. Basically, which is easier...staining or just painting? Is painting even a good idea or will it look tacky? If you did a project like this, how long did it take you?
