Open Question: How can I remove hardened adhesive/padding from under an old carpet?In my bedroom, the carpet is very old and MUST GO! I ripped a corner up and there is a hardened substance, I'm not sure if it's the padding that is under or the adhesive. I think the hardwood floors underneath are in good shape, proving we can get this hardened stuff up. If not, we'll be getting the wooden floors refinished or getting a new carpet. However, I'd like to try to take it up myself first. Any ideas? I need something that will do the job, but not ruin the floors. Can someone tell me what these sheets/paper is called and if Tyvek has any competitors that also cover houses in these sheets?
