Open Question: Black spots on my ceiling?

Hi, I have a concern with my ceiling, in the past two months I have noticed there are black almost like smoke residue, appearing on my ceiling. It seems to be where the boards are on the roof above the ceiling and it's faint in some parts and darker in other parts. We don't smoke we do burn candles every now and again, but the spots are happening where we don't burn the candles. I was just curious as to what it could possibly be it has no smell and I don't think it's mold. It washes away with just a wet rag but it comes back in a couple days. Has anyone else had this issue? I thought it was mold too but I talked to someone at home depot about it and they said it wouldn't have come back so soon because it was comin back within a couple of days and there is no smell to it at all everyone told me that mold would have a smell to it. But thanks much for the answers I will definatley get a professional in here to look at it and determine what it is because I don't want to live in mold....

Open Question: Remodeling, hardware finish help?!?

I'm re-decorating and came across a stomp. My living room opens up to my kitchen. I purchased kitchen cabinets knobs in a stainless steel finish. I wanted to purchase a curtain rod, chandelier and light fixture but their finishes are different. They come in satin nickel, brushed nickel, and polished nickel finish. I want everything to look cohesive, which why I'm not sure what to do? What is the difference between the finishes? Are the comparable to stainless?

Open Question: What is the best under the counter lighting for a kitchen; or where can I look for one?

Currently I have one that is one piece with 6 small bulbs and they always go off and on, and never at the same time. It's 39" long. It's so annoying. We sit at the counter for meals and for reading. Please help; and, thank you!

Open Question: About how much do closet organizational systems cost?

I have two closets. The first is rather small and holds my suitcases, book bags, totes...etc. as well as my accessories such as scarves and hosiery. The second is a walk in closet that holds my clothing. I've been thinking about having someone come in and install an organizational system/help me organize my closets as there never seems to be enough room for all my stuff. I'm not really concerned about using eco-friendly materials...my main concern is the cost. Would anyone who has had one of these systems installed before give me some information about the cost? I'm basically looking for a general idea of what a project like this would run me. Please no links/ads. and no chat speak. Thanks in advance.
