Open Question: how to refinish real wood that has a clear finish?i have a credenza. had it since i was 16. its old like from the 70's but its in awesome condition. my mom says its real wood and with metal L shaped legs and hinges. no handles. i'm moving with the next month and want to make it look awesome beforehand. i wanted to stain it dark at first but my mom is saying it wont turn out right because of the clear finish and things. she says i should paint it. i just dont know how. or what i might need. what kind of paint would i need and would i need a professional to come in and sand it down? or could i take some sand paper to it myself? kind of look like this but imagine the doors are in the middle and instead of openness there are drawers on either end. http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/images/uploads/11-7-giulia-credenza-1.jpg Open Question: Anyone bought IKEA LACK furniture items?Considering purchasing LACK end tables, coffee table, and TV stand in walnut finish.
