Open Question: Should all walls in a house be the same colour?

Hi guys, From an interior design perspective, is it better to have all of the walls in a house be the same colour or at east from a similar colour palatte rather than creating a different feel in ever room? For example can you have a light cream through the whole house with accenting furnishings and then a dark blue/grey living room? Should all of the bedrooms be of a similar colour to eachother? just trying to sort things out. thanks. forgot to say it will be a big house not just a loft or apartment.
