Open Question: Should I continue to finish my basement after getting water?

I have never got water in my basement until this past week. Considering it broke a 50 year rainfall record I'm not sure if I should continue my project. I started finishing my basement, all sheetrock installed but haven't joint compounded yet. During the monsoon I got about 2 gallons of water in one corner of my basement. I ripped down the sheetrock and found the water leaking from the old snap tie holes, I chipped them out and used hydraulic cement to plug the holes. There were approximately 7 holes, I also plan on putting a little bit more slope on the grade on the exterior of the house in that corner. It seems the seepage has subsided after I used the water plug. I've already spent approximately $6K on the project, including the rough plumbing for a full bath, a bar, bar sink, do I continue my work?

Open Question: Interested in getting a bathtub insert?

Our main bathroom has a bathtub/shower unit. The shower surround is in good shape and we recently installed new faucets and a nice showerhead. Now, the tub is peeling heavily. I would like to get just a bathtub insert put in overtop of it. I'm interested in hearing what other people have had done in this type of scenario.

Open Question: I'm about to paint my bathroom. Paint roller problems? Help please!?

I was instructed to "wash" my brand new paint rollers before I paint so that the fuzzies wouldn't come off into my walls while I paint. My boyfriend said he'd do this task but when I went to go check and rubbed the painter a little, fuzzies were everywhere. I have Behr Premium Plus Latex Semi-Gloss paint for the bathroom. What do I need to do to clean the roller so that I can make sure nothing comes off and goes onto my wall?

Open Question: how to remove spraypaint overspray?

hello everyone. i was using spraypaint to spray something the other day and got overspray onto some metal and plastic items I didn't want paint on. Does anyone know something that can remove the spray paint? I would use paint thinner but the area is around some sensitive items that I can't put paint thinner on so I was looking for a home remedy kind of thing that will do the trick. Thanks in advance!

Open Question: Can I install formica over a ceramic tile counter?

I rent a home that has a kitchen with l ceramic tile counter tops and walls. (I've been given permission to do whatever remodeling I want. But it's a rental and don't want to put to much money into it.) Anyway, the kitchen needs a new look. I was wondering if I could glue formica over a ceramic counter top? Or could I just paint the tile. The whole kitchen is white and I'm thinking about trying to paint the tile wall (to match my house) and either put formica over the counter tops or paint it. Any suggestions please.
