Open Question: What is the minimum walking space for hallway?

I am designing a rental house for my dad. It's just a small project that really is just for my practice but still, I'd like to do it properly. Being not an architect, I have to research a lot of stuff. Now, my dad wants the walking space to be as small as possible so that the rooms can be as big as possible. What is the standard minimum walking space width? Thanks.

Open Question: Is it possible to install granite countertops for under $3000?

I live in AZ. I've spent a lot of money updating (inside and outside), and I'd really like to spend as little as possible on the countertops. I'd prefer not to use granite tile, as well. Thanks in advance for your help, I really appreciate it.
