Open Question: Patio support post cracking?Hi All, We just extended an additional 13' x 25' to our existing patio cover. The contractor used 3 5 1/2" support beams and tied it to the existing patio cover. It has been completed for about a month now but I am starting to notice splits and cracks down the middle in each of the support post (top to bottom). The contractor put on a stain and sealer to those beams and we painted those same beam as well. Are these splits and cracks normal? The contractor is bonded and insured so before I call him about it, I want to make sure that I understand the issue better. Your assistance here will be greatly appreciated. Thanks a million TDo Open Question: What floor should we put upstairs?We have a large 2 story house and are in dire need of new flooring on our upstairs. We recently put down hardwood maple floor on the main floor but don't want to spend all the money to put it upstairs too. We need new floors so bad because we have a puppy, and she has completely destroyed the carpet with her urine stains and it smells terrible and looks terrible. We don't think we want carpet again because she still occasionaly pees in the house and we don't want to be like it is now. Whatever we choose it has to be able to go over the stairs too. The walls are painted light purple, I have light blue carpet, and I know the colors totally clash but I put a purple rug over it. My bedspread is dark purple w/ different colored stripes. Most of my furniture is painted white. I got my room decorated when I was eleven or something like that, and I've already grown out of everything being purple. It is called Albert dark?I have checked at the Laura Ashley shop they say it is about 13 years old, so far too old for them to have any left in any store or warehouse etc. They could only find the curtain fabric in their 2001 catalog, but a Scottish assistant said the wallpaper was discontinued long before the fabric was still made and she remembers selling that wallpaper when she worked in Scotland 12 & 13 years ago !
