It resonates through my hardwood floors. I'm planning on carpeting my living room to at least buffer the sound. I went to Home Depot and told them about my issue and they suggested adding double padding under the carpet to increase the buffer. Will this help? In addition, I've been researching MLV (mass-loaded-vinyl), which is designed specifically for this problem. My issue with this is, for one, it's expensive. Secondly, I have to order it and apply it myself. I'm amazed that Home Depot, Lowes, etc. don't offer this service. What are your thoughts on this? Should I learn to apply MLV and bite the expensive bullet. Or should I take my chances and add double padding under my carpet.
