Open Question: What kind of wood floor should I put in my home?

Due to our recent rainy season in so. california, ( homes here are not built to withstand the elements I guess). my home had lots of water damage,i.e., wet walls, buckled floors and molding coming off the walls and saturated. Water came under the threshold of my french door. I am having the roof repaired, the patio cover ledger repaired, thinking about new windows, but need to make a decision on replacing existing wood floors. I can't do tile and loved my wood floors. Should I do laminate, engineered wood or the old fashioned wood floor strips that they stain?

Open Question: How can I give my room a beachy feel?

I'm moving to a new house soon, and i love the beach. I re-did my room right now about 2 months ago, not knowing we were going to move, and i really like the color i have right now, and i spent alot of money getting new curtains, bedding, and little details around the room. So, i want to take the bedding, and curtains with me. I'm also getting a new bed room set, i'm deciding between this black set (this is just the bed, but i'm going to get the dresser and night stand as well): http://www.ashleyfurniture.com/Showroom/Showroom.aspx?PageId=Showroom&CategoryID=17&ItemNo=B150-67&SetDomTab=1&SeriesNo=B150&CollectionId=&style=&PageNumber=1&IsClicked=1&CatPageNumber=10 And this white one (which i will also get the dresser and nightstand): http://www.ashleyfurniture.com/Showroom/Showroom.aspx?PageId=Showroom&CategoryID=17&ItemNo=B370-57&SetDomTab=1&SeriesNo=B370&CollectionId=&style=&PageNumber=1&IsClicked=1&CatPageNumber=5 Which bed would give the room a more beach feel? Here are some pictures of my room color, bed set, and curtains: Curtains: http://www.flickr.com/photos/36126254@N03/4531011555/sizes/l/ Bedding: http://www.flickr.com/photos/36126254@N03/4531012943/ wall color: http://www.flickr.com/photos/36126254@N03/4531014293/ Do you think i could still use the curtains in my new room and they would work with the beach theme? Will the color work as a beachy color? and will the bedding some how be able to work? Right now my bed room is in the Scroll or Bordeaux theme. To girlscout: i'm not talking about the bedding on the bed, i'm talking about the beds themselves. I'm was leaning toward the white one anyways. And by beachy, i don't literally mean i want starfish hanging from my walls, and paintings on dolphins all over, i mean i want colors, and feelings you might get when your at the beach. i'm thinking something like this, as far as colors go. http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/img-set/BQcDAAAAAwoDanBnAAAABC5vdXQKFkRqUUdBdkdUM2hHS0RuUHpfOE5SelEAAAACaWQKAXgAAAAEc2l6ZQ.jpg

Open Question: How would I redo my room?

So I want to redo my room by printing out pictures of bands and album covers and things I like and using wall paper glue to paste them to a wall in my room so it will actually look like wall paper. Is that what you would actually do?

Open Question: I'm attempting to build a series of retaining walls out of brick on a downward sloap?

How deep and how should I build the footings to ensure that the wall doesn't sag over time. Picture three levels of retaing walls on the face of the slope with open garden beds on top. re-bar or no re-bar. I'm in minnesota so the frost line should be a consideration.

Open Question: Is it possible to remove an etched pattern from a glass window?

We have two window panes on our front door and each has a decorative floral pattern etched onto the glass. Looks like the previous owner did it (it's not well done... can see scrape marks etc from the application process). Is there anyway to remove this stuff? If I scratch off a tiny bit with my fingernail it seems to come off, which makes me think it may be possible to remove it with some type of solution that would break it down first.

Open Question: What colour should I paint my bedroom?

I love interior decorating...when it comes to other people. i have no idea what kind of room to do for myself. for a long time, well for about 3 years now, my room has been a light lavender with flowery wallpaper only on one wall and fairy flower lights everywhere. I must say it is a very beautiful room but I'm sick of it. I just turned thirteen and I'd love to have a room that says a lot about me. Please give me suggestions for bedroom styles. Guidelines and details etc: * My room is tiny. Seriously tiny. 7" by 8" * I hate babyish pastel colours like pale greens and light pinks and most of all, pastel yellows * I may wear a lot of black, but I prefer bright, bold colours in my bedroom, like yellow walls with bright teal decals. unfortunately, because my room is small i must figure out a way to incorporate this without cramping the space too much. * I love animals * My furniture is all wooden but that can be changed * My window is disgustingly small, like 5ft by 2ft * I love books * I have to efficient with my space * I like things to match * I need a space for all my clutter that I can hide * I am a neat freak * I get giddy in the presence of Chocolate but my parents do not approve so i need a place to hide my candy stash * Please mention stuff like bedroom accessories, decals (I adore decals), window treatments, bedsheets, carpetting/flooring etc. i have a vague idea of what I want but I'd like your opinion on how this would look: yellow walls with teal decals PLEASE HELP WITH FURNITURE SELECTION FOR A BEDROOMW ITH YELLOW WALLS AND TEAL DECALS!!! thx teal window treatments and bed sheets I was thinking teal furniture too, but that would seem like too much teal with all the teal sheets and curtains/blinds/drapes, decals etc. sorry, long question!
