Open Question: What do you have in your fireplace off season?Since summer is here, we will not be using our wood burning fireplace for a while. The "rack" has to stay in since it is attached to the gas starter. I have seen candles and fake greenery, but what else looks good in a fireplace? All the ideas on the web talk about the mantle, which is already covered; can't find any ideas for the inside... Open Question: I want to get a sign for a new house that has the Est. date?Do I put the year we got married, or the year we bought the house? Its just a sign with our last name & Est Date. So is it the year it was bought or the year we were married? Open Question: What is a good way to conceal wires?Hey, I have a mounted television on my wall and there are wires hanging down to connect to my sky box, dvd player, etc. Does anyone have any tips on how to conceal them because they're a bit of an eye sore. Any ideas? Open Question: what are some cool room ideas?I really want to decorate my room because its so empty and blah, but i dont have alot of money to do so& was wondering what some good 'do it yourself' room decor ideas are? example: http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4040/4530831899_57e069484e_m.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4018/4530831803_aaafd83312_m.jpg Open Question: Should linoeum flooring go under the bath vanity?I'm replacing the bathroom vanity and flooring. I'm using 12x12 linoeum that resembles ceramic tile. Should I put it on the floor where the vanity will go or put the vanity on the concret floor? Or just put it a bit into the vanity area so I don't have use molding on the base of the vanity? Open Question: How can the size of a headboard change the feel of a room?We have a California King bed (76" wide, 84" long). Needless to say, it takes up a large amount of space in the room. I am thinking of constructing this headboard: (http://www.hgtv.com/home-improvement/build-an-easy-to-make-slatted-headboard/index.html). Does making a taller headboard make the room seem larger? I was also thinking of using a shoji screen (http://www.orientalfurniture.com/oriental-furniture/SS-84-DC.html?Category_Code=shoji-screens) as a headboard. Any ideas on how to minimize the large presence of the bed? Open Question: What color goes well with tan and light blue?My boyfriend and I are moving into an apartment together. We're combining a lot of our current furniture as we don't want to buy a new set of furniture until we actually get a house. Well, this means we have a lot of mismatched stuff and I want to find a way to make it all flow, lol. He has a tan couch and I have a light blue recliner. I want to buy some throw pillows to kind of bring the two together. What color/design would you recommend?
