The house: From the 1920's, two story, 950 sq.ft., paint peeling and chipping quite a bit. Painter #1 says: He will prep it by power washing to get off most of the chipping paint, then scrape off whatever remains. He will then caulk and prime. He says the primer is the most important thing, and that with a good primer, the new paint will hold better. He will then spray the paint on. He said it "should" last several years and if it did start to peel, he would come back and fix it. Painter #2 says: He will powerwash and scrape the paint. After caulking, he will go back and recheck the surface to see if it needs more (?). He says that if the surface is prepared properly, primer isn't needed, and that latex primer is really just watered down latex paint and that 60 minutes even ran a special on it. He will use a combination of spraying on the paint and brushing it on, depending on how close the other houses and cars are in the area to avoid overspray. He said with proper prep work, the paint will look smooth and will last up to 20 years with Sears weatherbeater paint. What do you think? Open Question: I'm looking at buying new luxury sheets for my full sized bed...?I want to get as high as thread count as possible & have been looking at sites such as ebay & overstock for the best deal. From the reviews I've read though many complain of being heavy & hot with the higher counts. All I know for sure is I want a solid print, I'm a little flustered with what count and finish is best for me however... My ex had 8oo & 1ooo tc sets & I absolutely adored them! (Except for the striped set, I think the pattern took away from the softness). Of course he now is my ex & have to out-do what he had for myself :) Open Question: Black and White Floor?Suggest me a good design for Black and White Tiles besides the usual chequered. Open Question: what the best kind of concealor out there to use?? that want break your face out and is a dark brown color?Open Question: I am putting chair rail in my living room. Do I need to put up crown molding as well?It is not a formal room, but I need to chair rail to add character and separate two complimenting colors. Do I need to add crown molding to the ceiling? I didn't think I needed too but the more research I do online about doing the chair rail project, the more I see that it always accompanies the crown molding. What do you think? It is a pretty plain living room with one large window. It is not a large space, like 15'x15'. You are suggesting I could just put corner pieces in to add to it? That is an interesting idea I had not considered. Does anyone else have thoughts on that? Open Question: should I go with HomeDepot or Lowe's to replace the carpet with tiles. I live in Calif.?Open Question: Needing blue color concrete roof tiles; who makes them?Want to redo a roof with cement/concrete flat tiles in a blue color. having a hard time finding the color blue. Open Question: I am going to be hanging up a bunch of pictures in my family room, and I am thinking?about getting some decorator pillows for the couch. What is the best way to position them on the couch? Should I buy 1 for each side of the couch, or 1 long one for the middle, or 2 on one side and 1 on the other? Also, one more question, is it best to buy the pillows to match the pictures or the couch, or have them match the color that is the most in the pictures and couch, or the least in the pictures or the couch?
